The room is named after Dante Alighieri, who was born in 1265 from a guelfish Family of small nobility in Florence. A great part of the rimes he wrote during his youth were dedicated to a certain Beatrice. The spiritual history of this love is worked out again between 1293 and 1294 in the little booklet "vita nuova" ( new life ), which mixes both prose and poetry. After 1307 he begins writing the divine commedy. The poet and author dies in Ravenna in 1321.
